The Kyprian Order Description
The Kyprians are an anachronistic guild of do-gooders,
protectors, warriors, and wanderers. They are a "white war order" with a
mandate to protect and empower the poor, the innocent, and the forces of
nature. They are often hunters, campers, travelers, and survivalists. Some
members lead more traditional lifestyles, running businesses and ventures that
support or finance other Kyprian activities.
Kyprians recognize duality in the world, as
personified by the Bjaki deities
Kyprios and Himavat,
but typically strive toward order, honour, and justice. They
actively pursue the rights and freedoms
of the individual and act against tyranny, oppression, and
rules for the sake of rules. Politically, they encourage governments to act as
protectors and administrators and stay out of the day-to-day affairs of
individuals. They have a strong sense of law and order and will often
intervene in political or legal matters where they perceive injustice.
Kyprians are often dramatic, idealistic, and
individualistic. They are often spiritualistic and pursue alim, the
quiet of being in the moment. They often wear traditionally styled armours and
garb. They generally carry a traditional weapon pair of attei and satafta. The
attei is a 12" curved blade with a sharpened outer edge and serrated
inner edge that functions as a work knife, short sword, machete, saw, and
digging tool. The satafta is an 8" tool with opposite axe and hammer
heads that can be used as a weapon, blocker, or tool. The khul is
another common Kyprian climbing tool and weapon, having a grip and crescent
hand guard and 8" pointed hook.
Functional
The Kyprians are loosely organized at best, being more of an association than
a formally structured organization. Leadership is provided by those
individuals of suitable character when the situation warrants it. The Kyprians
are disorganized, consisting of wandering individuals and chapters that form
and dissolve based on local circumstances.
The Kyprians tend to actively help each other,
supporting each other in a network of Kyprian-owned homes, businesses, and
hostels. They will often establish small settlements or embassies where they
perceive that they can help change things for the better. They tend to
gravitate to appropriate conflicts, putting out calls to their brothers for
help.
History
The Kyprian Order formed in early
Archaic times, somewhat inspired by the formation of the
Kharkosanth
Empire breaking away from the
Bjaki. A
naturalizing response to all the technological developments of
the era and perceived threat from the
Makkuth.
Formed on Caraconcil,
spread quickly through the
Bjaki Federation
and the Prodigal Void.
