Whinakai -- Medium Long Range Freighter

| Named after the high-flying Whinakai hawk, the
Whinakai is a medium sized freighter designed for long-range,
multi-destination runs. Currently in its second generation, it pioneered
and continues to innovate the carrying of cargo in enormous, externally
affixed containers for easy redistribution and offloading at more remote
destinations that lack modern facilities. |

The Whinakai's splayed-wing
design allows modular cargo containers to be attached externally to its
frame. Functional containers may be attached to expand the functionality
of the ship, including sensor pods, heavy weapons systems, and modular
launch bays that can carry cargo shuttles, tugs, or defensive fighters. |

The Whinakai is equipped with a variety of hardpoints along the spine of
its frame capable of mounting grapros or light weaponry. while not a
hardened battle craft, a Whinakai is quite capable of defending herself
on deep donkey runs. A Whinaki will generally carry 3 shifts of flight
crew, dedicated cargo handlers, and trading teams that can cold sell to
a variety of markets on a single planet. |
