Kharkosanth
Humans
Humans of the Kharkosanth Empire tend to be rugged, dark
haired, and of ruddy to dark complexion. They are very
intelligent and aggressive, believing that the only way to
save the universe (and consequently themselves) from
entropy and the ongoing hostilities of its inhabitants is
to absorb, regulate, and structure those inhabitants. Kharko humans
are exceptionally tough, strong, and vicious fighters from
a highly militaristic society. They are very quick to
learn from those who are different from them. They are
logical, practical, and adaptable. They are quick to
tackle a challenge and stubborn in their quest for a
solution.
Kharkosanth Bjaki
The Bjaki who have grown up for generations within the
Kharkosanth Empire tend to be great diplomats, planners,
and developers. They have an ability to relate to other
cultures and technologies. They are often great thinkers
in terms of devising and developing new technologies or
reverse engineering foreign technologies.
Kharkosanth Ilienes
The Kharkosanth Ilienes have a dark personality, believing
that intelligence and guile are the key to the survival of
intelligent races in the face of approaching entropy and
chaos. By encorporating the knowledge and technology of those around them, they
can structure and save the universe. The Kharkosanth Iliene are great
logical plotters and schemers. They went a bit
crazy when they split from the Bajki Community,
encountering a strange emptiness in the quietness away
from the busy Bjaki Federation civilization. Their new Community is, psionically
speaking, a bit noisy and buzzy.
Kharkosanth Balithrim
The Balithrim have long been a calming and unifying
presence in the Kharkosanth Empire. As the original Little
Fleet left the Bjaki Federation and the Kharkosanth Iliene
began to feel the effects of isolation, some of the
intense bonds between the Iliene and Balithrim were
broken. The Balithrim were forced to see themselves more
independently. Consequently, those who survived and bred
over the generations became more intelligent and adaptable
on their own. They maintained their quiet nature and
became more thoughtful and determined.
Kharkosanth Makkuth
A certain percentage of the Makkuth seem to possess a
mutant "rebel" gene that make them run counter to
traditional Makkuth isolationist thinking. The same gene
that lead Makkuth to take to early space exploration is
the same gene that lead those Makkuth to seize the
opportunity to join Cyarkos Rhulson's Little Fleet as it
headed to colonize NK1901. Through generations in the
freedom of the Kharkosanth Empire, the Makkuth have become
free thinkers that eschew many traditional Makkuth values.
They still tend to assume that the strong must dominate
the week but are far more favourable now to making the
process a less hostile one, seeking social stratification
over outright slavery.
The Olawasi – Also known as Cyarkins, the
Olawasi are a massively muscled, hairy, big toothed,
snouted, bad-ass warrior race native to Cyarkos. They are
of only moderate intelligence but are well-trained by
their Human and Iliene masters. Natural killers, ground
troops, good fearless merciless pilots. When the
Kharkosanth originally arrived at Cyarkos, the Olawasi
banded together to drive them off. Seeing their fierceness
in battle and superior technology, the Olawasi decided it
was in their best interest to be friends. This would set a
pattern for generations of Kharkosanth activity to come.
Gritworms – A native Cyarkin creature remotely
resembling the centipede. Naturally, they swarm like army
ants devouring anything in their path. The Kharkosanth
bred and genetically manipulated them to a decent size and demeanor to be used as domesticated pets and riding
animals. Have been known to unleash swarms of them during
ground combat.
At any given time, they will take the opportunity to
absorb, conquer, or recruit anyone. They lack the
resources for prolonged, full-scale war. Individual worlds
trade at their convenience. They are generally at odds
with everyone around them... the Stewarts, Ptatls,
Makkuth, Core Commonwealth, and Bjaki Federation. They are
not above allying with any of these powers, however, if it
suits their purpose.
